Instead of gratitude, Odeyon sent a query to Unagogo demanding to know why his truant wife did not return to Ogori with her APEPE - a bowl used for storing camwood cosmetics. Unagogo replied that that the wife did not come with the said bowl. Odeyon disbelieved his 'friend' and therefore set his followers to attack Unagogo and his people because of the missing cosmetic receptacle.This engendered bitterness which continued unabated between the two groups for a long period before they before they finally settled their differences in c. 1800s when the frequent Nupe invasions also receded.
